report published by Esteve Bardolet,
economist and member of the
Mallorca Tourist Board, from
1905 to 2005, approximately

| Most
of Mallorca's best beaches are
on the north and east coasts
and, although many have been
swallowed up by tourist developments,
you can still find the occasional
exception. However, and perhaps
to the surprise of most travellers
here, there are activities away
from the seashore and the clubs:
the mountainous northwest of
the island in particular offers
some outstanding territory for
walkers.

| There
is no greater source of pride
for the new generations of Mallorcans
than their landscape. Conscious
of this pride, public administrations
have chosen to make protection
of the environment a top priority,
enabling it to be offered up
to the visitor's attentive and
delighted gaze. Mallorca's landscapes
are so varied as to enthral
the human eye.

greatest benefactors, Archduke
Ludwig Salvator of Austria.
