The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range in the Andalusia region of Spain. Meaning ‘snowy range’, this mountain range consists of some the highest peaks in Spain like Mulhacén at 3,479m. With its ability to provide skiers a chance to ski at the some of the highest peaks in Europe, Sierra Nevada has become a very popular tourist destination. Warm and pleasant sunshine contributes further to the appeal of this renowned ski resort. At the base of these wide mountain ranges lie the grand city of Granada, and a little farther ahead lie the regions of Almeria and Malaga. The other economic mainstay of the Sierra Nevada, apart from tourism, is agricultural produce, including olives, grapes, and apples.
