Of volcanic origin, this island is different to any of the other islands. The volcanoes on this island were active until as early as the 18th and 19th century. Much of the island is covered with volcanic ashes and lava giving the feeling of being on moon! A hot and sunny island, Lanzarote boasts of some of the best beaches in the Canaries region. Lying just 60 miles off the coast of Africa, it is a great place for windsurfing due to the plying of the warm winds. The area is full of large plantations of vegetables, fruits, and vineyards between volcanic craters.
The island is a great place for the holidaymakers. Many isolated, tucked-in coves, bays and calm turquoise waters with beautiful marine life, make it a fantastic place to spend tranquil time.
