The Costa Brava is full of contrasts reflecting different hues of traditionalism and modernity. Blessed with 160-kilometres stretch of beautiful, rugged coastline, Costa Brava is part of the Catalonia region in the northeast corner of Spain. Soon after tour operators discovered Costa Brava, the region has been experiencing an onslaught of tourists. So now, modern, international tourist resorts with high-rise hotels, and tall modern apartment blocks vie for attention with unspoilt, undisturbed fishing villages, sheltered rocky coves and medieval towns with ancient castles. The coastal belt of Costa Brava stretches from Blanes in the north of Barcelona, to Bay of Roses near the French border.
